Headway Black country was set up in 1997 as an informal support group, later becoming a local branch of Headway - the brain injury association. In 1999, independent charitable status was secured (No. 1089171), whilst remaining a self supporting Group affiliated to Headway - the brain injury association and to the United Kingdom Aquired Brain Injury Forum. In the year 2000, the organisation registered as a company limited by guarantee No. 4001321.
Our organisation as its name suggests, covers the whole of the Black Country sub-region. It operates across the boundaries of a number of Primary Care Trusts and 4 different local authorities, namely Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
